Dear Tony Blair,
Due to the on-going controversy over legality of the Iraq war I would
welcome the opportunity to meet you personally and discuss the issues
including the lack of WMD found in Iraq. This was the remit on which you
deployed British forces into the Gulf, not regime change or the imposing of
democracy.
85 British soldiers have returned home in coffins and hundreds are severely
wounded and mentally traumatised, all based on false information for which
nobody has been made accountable including yourself.
I most strongly feel, bearing in mind that I also countersigned for my son
Thomas to join the army as he was only 16, that you have betrayed the trust
of parents and the oath of allegiance these brave young men signed and
pledged to your government.
Why has there been no apology to the 85 families whose sons have died in
this controversial conflict? Why has there been no accountability?
Although this is a very special issue between the two of us, I would like to
meet you in a public forum, chaired by a mutually agreed person, where we
can discuss these matters. Other candidates could be invited if you think
this is appropriate.
The Iraq issue will not go away - such a catastrophic political blunder
cannot merely be put to one side.
Yours sincerely,
Reg Keys
